The Power of AI and Computer Vision for the Planet
Following two years of extensive research and development, which included a collaboration with CNRS, Katrin Dimitrova and Alexandre Leboucher successfully unveiled Vizzia — a cutting-edge technological breakthrough in the battle against illegal deposits.
Vizzia’s state-of-the-art solution boasts an exceptional 99% accuracy rate in waste identification and classification, rapidly establishing itself as the preferred partner for several French municipalities who prioritize the pursuit of cleaner cities as a core mission.
The Vizzia solution has already been successfully implemented in +15 municipalities, including Porto-Vecchio (Corse), Montélimar (Drôme), and Garges-lès-Gonesse (Val-d’Oise), with upcoming testing scheduled in Paris (Ile-de-France).
This remarkable product harnesses cutting-edge technology, merging specially designed cameras, advanced AI algorithms, and computer vision capabilities. Through this powerful synergy, Vizzia enables precise detection and documentation of illegal dumping activities.
Looking ahead, the ultimate objective is to seamlessly integrate penalty procedures directly into the platform, streamlining the generation and composition of penalty notices, as well as the issuance of cleaning invoices, all within a user-friendly interface.
Cleaner Cites & Preventing Waste
Why we care? In recent years, there has been an alarming 85% increase in recorded offenses related to illegal dumping, as reported by French authorities. The consequences of these ecological violations are staggering, with an estimated annual cost of €16billion across Europe and €1.5 billion in France alone, according to ADEME.
Shockingly, more than one million tons of irresponsible and illicit waste are discarded each year in France, equivalent to the weight of 100 Eiffel Towers.
This dire situation poses a grave threat to our environment: polluting our rivers, suffocating our landscapes and compromising the quality of life for millions of people.
To fight this pressing issue and protect our territories, a tailored response is required. That’s where Vizzia, Katrin and Alexandre, come into play.
Two ambitious Entrepreneurs empowering Social and Ecological Change
Katrin Dimitrova and Alexandre Leboucher, both graduates of the esteemed X-HEC data science program, have astounded us with their remarkable long-term vision for Vizzia and unwavering dedication to a crucial social cause. Through their support of municipalities in combating illegal waste, Vizzia not only champions urban planning but also elevates the appeal of our territories while safeguarding public health.
To accelerate the rollout of its solution in many other cities in France and Europe, the cleantech Vizzia raised a first fundraising round of 3.4m€.
